Wilton Village Market: A Growing Success Story

There’s a real sense of momentum building here at Wilton Village, and our regular markets are becoming a big part of that.

Following two successful market weekends in March and April, Our Local Market is quickly establishing itself as a key part of the village’s revival — bringing together independent traders, local residents and visitors for a relaxed, community-focused experience.

A Strong Start

Our first market weekend (14th–15th March) marked an exciting new chapter, transforming the former Guild site into a vibrant hub of food, artisan and craft stalls. As highlighted by the Salisbury Journal, visitors were able to explore a wide range of locally produced goods, from handmade crafts and artwork to speciality foods.

More importantly, it created exactly what we hoped for — a welcoming space for people to come together, support small businesses and enjoy a day out close to home.

That atmosphere has continued into April, even with less favourable weather.

What Our Traders Are Saying

We’ve been really encouraged by the feedback from our traders, many of whom are already looking forward to returning.

They’ve highlighted:

  • A well-organised and smoothly run event
  • Clear, helpful communication in the lead-up
  • A supportive and approachable team on the day
  • A well-considered layout with strong pitch positioning

As one trader put it, “There aren’t really any ‘bad’ pitches.”

There’s also a shared understanding that, as a relatively new market in a redeveloping location, growth will come with time:

  • “It’s a new event… hoping for increased footfall as the year progresses.”
  • “Pitch fees are fair, so it’s still worth coming back.”
  • “It’s about consistency — it will build momentum.”

Even in April, traders noted that footfall held up well despite the weather, with engagement from visitors making a real difference.

What Visitors Are Saying

It’s been just as positive from those visiting the market:

  • “Lovely to see something happening again at Wilton Village.”
  • “Such a friendly atmosphere.”
  • “Fantastic selection and super friendly service — a real asset to the village.”
  • “So much going on — food stalls, coffee, music… great to see it so busy.”

There’s a real appetite for events like this — not just as a place to shop, but as somewhere to spend time and connect locally.

Building Momentum

We know that markets like this take time to grow, and we’re already seeing that progress. With returning traders, increasing awareness and strong community support, each event is building on the last.

The enthusiasm from both traders and visitors gives us real confidence in what this can become.

Upcoming Market Dates

We’re pleased to confirm the next run of market weekends:

  • 9th–10th May
  • 13th–14th June
  • 11th–12th July
  • 8th–9th August

Each market will continue to bring a mix of independent traders, artisan products and local food to the village. If you’re interested in booking a stall, chat to Our Local Market!

Supporting Local, Together

For us, this is about more than just a market. It’s about supporting independent businesses, creating opportunities for local traders and bringing people back into Wilton Village.

We’re excited to see it continue to grow over the coming months.
